Each holiday season, The Hallmark Channel bestows on us the greatest gift of all: a brand new lineup of movies whose formulaic storylines are a warm, comforting embrace in the midst of the hectic season. Over the course of three years, and more than 30 movies, I’ve evolved the Holiday Movie Drinking Game into a card game that allows for maximum competition and player engagement.

TO PLAY: There are 3 card categories: “Drink 1,” “Drink 2,” and “Drink 3.” Each player draws 3 of each, for a total of 9 cards. Set your cards face up on the table so your fellow players hold you accountable. Pour yourself a beverage of choice and queue up the movie. Once one of your cards appear (it won’t take long), take your drinks, mark the scorecard, and choose to either swap that card for one of equal value, or keep it if it’s likely to occur again. The player with the most drinks wins.
